Automation of the "Segment" field and use of the "Reason" field in reports

We are using Revtool as a revenue tool and we have encountered an important limitation that we have already discussed this morning with Antonio.

Revtool is based on the "Segment" field provided by Hotelgest, but currently that field is filled manually, which causes all future bookings to appear as "No data" until check-in. This greatly limits the usefulness of the system for forecasting and analytics reporting, as we cannot have clear visibility by segment until bookings are converted to actual stays.

During the conversation, Antonio suggested to us the possibility of automating the assignment of the "Segment" field based on the channel of origin of the booking. That is, all bookings coming in through a certain channel (OTA, direct online, direct offline, etc.) would be automatically tagged with a predefined segment. Later, if necessary, this segment could be modified at the time of check-in. Would it be possible to implement this automation from Hotelgest?

In addition, we wanted to ask if the "Reason" field that appears in the reservations can be used operationally in reports or filters. We are considering reorganizing our segmentation strategy as follows:

  • Use the "Segment" field to identify the originating channel segment (OTA, direct, tour operator, etc.).

  • Use the "Reason" field to indicate the customer type segment (business, family, group, etc.).

In order to apply this approach, we need to confirm:

  1. Whether the "Reason" field will be available and editable from Unified.

  2. Whether this field can be used as a filter or dimension in Hotelgest reports or extracted in exports.
