In my previous pms, we could save the client's cards in case of no-show to be able to make the charge, or in case of unforeseen events. It was very good, because once you wrote it down it was encrypted and we had a virtual key to have access to this sensitive information. I found it very useful and I miss if the reservation is direct, not being able to take the cards.
